DO NOT share your password or access to your account!

  5. What do I get with student account at ECHS ? • Access to printing (10 cents B&W and 50 cents color) You can go over by $1.00 before your printing capability is shut off. You may add credit by paying the librarians in dollar increments. • 750 mb of backed up storage on the secure ECHS servers (if you go over…you will not be allowed to save your work) A USB/Thumb drive is recommended for transferring files between home and school • Printing credit of $7.50/semester (may be adjusted based on courses) • Library and Technology center support • Access to databases / Internet / software and other library services • Access to a digital homework drive • Virus and Pop up and Malware/Spyware protection • A safe and appropriate computing experience!

File Compatibility! • The school currently uses Office XP with service pack 2 (service pack 3 is in process). • Microsoft Works (.wps) and Open Office (.odt) files must be saved as .doc to open in Microsoft Word. • Powerpoint and Excel must also be saved to .ppt and .xls files. • Office 2007 products will open at school but may have some of the “bells and whistles” stripped from the project. • Learn to save in a version that will work at school!

  7. Commonly asked questions …to which the answer is…NO. • Can I bring my own computer to school? • Can I access email or IM services? • Can a friend use my account? • Can I join the wireless network?

  8. Cheating/Plagiarism/Academic DishonestyThe ECHS handbook states that any of the following may by be classified as cheating (this not a comprehensive list of cheating/plagiarism offenses): • Using or photocopying the academic work of another • Copying of homework for which credit is given • Plagiarizing all or part of a document (which includes failure to cite direct quotes and/or parenthetical citations and/or failure to provide a complete list of sources cited). • Downloading monographs or other documents from the Internet and presenting part or all of the same as original work by the student • Any other form of intellectual theft • Turning in work that is, in whole or in part, the work of another person or persons • Providing another student with answers, a completed assignment, or any other academic information that could enable another student to cheat/plagiarize is forbidden

  9. ECHS Student Handbook Policy on Internet Conduct pg. 30 Students attending East Catholic High School represent the school at all times, in and outside the school. Therefore, the school will hold the students accountable for Internet communications that are inappropriate, serve to bully/harass, taunt/disrespect, or convey threatening messages. Internet activity which reflects negatively on East Catholic’s students, staff or school community will not be tolerated. The school’s name cannot accompany or be attributed to any communication that may overtly or covertly suggest or promote behavior that is illegal, immoral, threatening or be offensive in any way to the school, its administration/faculty/staff, or any other individual or entity related to the East Catholic community. If a student wishes to attach East Catholic to their name or online information, their Internet activities will be subject to review under the guidelines outlined above. Because of the constant circulation and ubiquitous nature of material shared on-line, posted information can be altered, resurface, and be printed. Therefore, students will be held accountable for the possible ramifications of their on-line behavior. Students cannot use the name (coded or representing the name), picture, likeness (drawings/visual images of any kind), voice recordings, or post any material about a student, staff/faculty/administrator- without the expressed permission of the individual.

  10. Helpful Advice… • Plan ahead…do not wait to the morning before a class presentation to see if your project is working correctly. • If you access something questionable, REPORT it! • If you witness a violation, REPORT it! • If you have questions or need support come to the library or the technology center for assistance or advice. • If you are not sure of something…ASK!
