  2. Notes • Entire program is Integrated Curriculum and Implementation of CTE Content/Curriculum with Core Content/Curriculum. • Specific Unit for Assignment 1 of CTE 655 • Teacher In-Service prior to the Start of School • 2 Day In-Service with Teachers and Principals at a High School

  3. Phase 1 • The entire implementation process through the Understanding by Design Framework will be to answer the Five Essential Questions. • The Five Essential Questions addresses the Five Main Educational Topics in Educational Leadership. • The Five Essential Questions and the answers to these Questions will drive the Desired Result per unit of the Understanding by Design.

  4. Phase 1 • Each specific Question of the Five Essential Questions will drive a specific unit within the project of Integrated CTE Content/Curriculum and Core Content/Curriculum School Wide. • Understanding by Design will drive the development, creation, and framework of each unit. • The Understanding by Design is a Framework, and it will provide the process of Implementation.

  5. Five Essential Questions • What do students need to know and do?  (Effective Curriculum) • How will they learn it?  (Effective Instruction) • How will we know if they've learned it?  (Effective Assessment) • What will we do if they don't learn it?  (Effective Interventions) • What will we do if they already know it?  (Effective Enrichment)

  6. Understanding By Design

  7. Understanding by Design • Assignment 1 Project Focus: • Stage 1, 2, 3 Desired Results, Assessment Evidence, and Learning Plan of Understanding by Design • For a Specific Unit of my Larger Project • Assignment 1 Unit 1 • What students need to know and do? Effective Curriculum

  8. Unit 1 Notes • Frist Essential Question of the Five • What students need to know and do? Effective Curriculum • Due to this program training teachers we will keep this essential question, because it will drive the professional development training and implementation of Integrated Curriculum. • Student focus and the question being driven towards students is at the heart of the unit. • However, the First Unit focuses on Teachers, Implementation, and Integration of Curriculum. • Two Tracks: Effective Curriculum for Students and Effective Curriculum of Integration for Teachers to Implementation School Wide.

  9. Unit 1: Effective Curriculum • Unit 1 Focus around Effective Curriculum of Integration • Our goal and objective is to focus on teacher training for the implementation of effective integrated curriculum • Therefore, Unit 1 is the development of Integrated, Innovative, Creative Curriculum that Aligns CTE with Core Content through Teacher Professional Development Training and Collaboration for the Purpose of Implementation.

  10. Understanding By Design Whole Project Overview, Units, and Framework Brainstorm

  11. Understanding by Design Stage 1 Established Goals Desired Results Understandings: Teachers will understand that: Through collaboration time and shared opportunities to work with other content areas that students will be exposed to the same content in more ways. More exposure means more ability to move from understanding to critical thinking. Integration and Implementation is Organic and Natural. Is model carried out and implemented through creative and innovative shared content can prepare students for career and college readiness. • Established Goals • Implementation of a school model-school wide: Integrated CTE Content/Curriculum with Core Content • A model of educational excellence and success • CTE and Core Content Class Integrate Curriculum • Teacher Collaboration, Training, and Implementation

  12. Stage 1 Essential Questions Teachers Will Know How CTE and Core Content Align, Overlap, and Naturally fit within both courses? How to us collaboration time to work with another CTE or Content Teacher to develop integrated curriculum, innovative instruction, and implementation for more education exposure? How to create a school wide vision of integration, and to utilize collaboration to develop creative, innovative, and meaningful integration and implementation of duel CTE and Core Content? • What CTE and Core Content align? • What CTE and Core Content Curriculum concepts overlap? • What type of curriculum overlaps and aligns for different ways of learning and exposure for students? • How might creative and innovative instruction assist in implementing integrated curriculum?

  13. Stage 1

  14. Stage 2 Assessment Evidence Teachers Will Be Able To Collaborate Effectively in Partnership with a CTE or a Core Content Develop Creative and Innovative Shared Content and Curriculum of Integrated CTE and Core Content Develop an Integrated Curriculum of both CTE and Core Content Curriculum Provide more educational opportunities to learn the content Develop a plan of implementation of aligning curriculum and content • Formative Assessment Collaboration and the Classroom • Summative Assessment Collaboration and measuring Integrate Lessons • Measureable Assessment to know the effectiveness of Implementation

  15. Stage 2
