Tourism Impacts • Economic • Positive – foreign exchange, GDP, jobs, taxes • Negative – leakage, types of jobs, real estate speculations • Environmental • Positive – conservation and preservation • Negative – pollution, physical/visual damage, resource extraction • Socio-cultural • Positive – culture preservation, revitalization • Negative – erosion of local values, commoditization
