  2. Goals • Understand the tasks and features of the robot course • Answer any questions in order to facilitate productive brainstorming Robot Scenario

General Rules • Order of the completion of tasks does not matter except for the CHARGER (must be last) • You may not disturb competitor’s objects • Your objects may not go into the competitors area (dictated by the yellow lines) • All instructor rulings are final and may be made in the spirit of the competition Robot Scenario

  4. Scoring • Task points • Required tasks • Counts for grade • Object points • Bonus tasks • Used for winning/seeding Robot Scenario

  5. The SWEET SENSOR Robot Scenario

  8. The RAMP • Only access point from the FACTORY to the SHOP Robot Scenario

  9. WONKA • RF transmission • Have to mount IR beacon on DROID • Tells your DROID: • Number of times to press the OVEN BUTTON • Sends kill signal after 2 minutes or on CHARGER activation Robot Scenario

  10. The CHARGE ZONE • DROID begins on the CHARGE ZONE • The run begins when the red start light is illuminated • Each DROID will start with the SCOOP Robot Scenario

  11. The SCOOP • Start with the SCOOP • Must be within the 9”x9” footprint of the DROID when you start • Cannot modify SCOOP in any way Robot Scenario

  12. The OVEN & OVEN BUTTON • The OVEN has the OVEN BUTTON on the front of it • Have to press it at least once • WONKA tells you how many times to press it • Object points (2, 3, or 4) Robot Scenario

  13. The CANDY MAKER & SWITCH • Flip the SWITCH on the CANDY MAKER to release the CANDY into the CHUTE • Will always have to flip from right to left Robot Scenario

  14. The CHUTE • CANDY falls through the CHUTE into the DRUM in the SHOP Robot Scenario

  15. The PIN • Touch the PIN • Remove the PIN completely, which allows the CANDY to fall into the DRUM Robot Scenario

  16. The SKID • Convey the SKID to the CHILLER • Get some points for delivering it to the SHOP • Cannot break the plane of the bottom of the RAMP Robot Scenario

  17. The CHILLER • More points for putting the SKID completely within CHILLER • No part of the SKID can break the plane of the front of the CHILLER Robot Scenario

  18. The COUNTER Left Right • Either COUNTER counts for full points • Correct COUNTER for object points Robot Scenario

  19. The LIGHT • Tells which COUNTER to put the SCOOP in • Designated as if you were standing in the SHOP: • Red = Right • Blue = Left Robot Scenario

  20. The CHARGER • Press the CHARGER to stop the run Robot Scenario

  21. Objects Penalties • Penalties for: • Disturbing competitor’s objects • Own objects crossing into another DROID’s course (at the end of the run or touched by your competitor) Robot Scenario

  22. PLAY NICE! • If you damage the course, your team will pay to fix it out of your team budget. Robot Scenario
