Vocabulary!. Week of October 6 th. Abrupt/abruptly. Sudden and unexpected Brief to the point of rudeness I told the nurse that I hate needles, so she stuck me with it abruptly so that it wouldn’t scare me. The man in the leather jacket was abrupt and demanding with the wait staff.

  2. Abrupt/abruptly • Sudden and unexpected • Brief to the point of rudeness • I told the nurse that I hate needles, so she stuck me with it abruptly so that it wouldn’t scare me. • The man in the leather jacket was abrupt and demanding with the wait staff.

  3. Shatter • Break suddenly into pieces • Upset someone greatly • Don threw the brush at the mirror and it shattered into a million tiny pieces. • It’s important to support your friends when they’re shattered emotionally.

  4. Cautious • Careful to avoid potential problems or danger • The cautious sparrow hopped around a bag of chips before it decided to dig in for a snack.

  5. Churn • To move about quickly/vigorously • The Dawamma at Yas Water World made our stomachs churn as we spiralled our way down the tube.
