  2. What are the different ways to organize this video game collection?

  3. 1.9 million species have been documented by scientist – with an estimated 5-30 million species living on the planet today.

  4. But haven’t we already found and named everything? Scientists discovered this new species of fish - the Pink Handfish – along with 114,000 other new species over the past 3 years.

  5. With so many species, past and present, how do we know when we have found a new species? In the 1700’s, Carl Linnaeus developed the system of scientific classification that we still use today. He is considered the father of taxonomy. Taxonomy is the science of describing, naming, and classifying organisms. Statue of Linnaeus as a university student.

  6. CLASSIFICATION is the division of organisms into groups, based on specific characteristics .Taxonomists use an 8 level system to classify living things based on shared characteristics. The system also reveals how closely related the species are..
