  1. Use of Gyan Vani FM Stations for Spread of Awareness about  IGNOU Community Colleges

  2. GyanVani Gyan Vani is an educational FM Radio Channel, operating through FM stations from various places in the country. It is a joint venture of Ministry of Human Resource Development and Ministry of information & Broadcasting, Prasar Bharti and IGNOU with IGNOU being the nodal agency

  3. Importance of the Gyan Vani • ‘Interactive Mode’ for enhancing and supplementing the learning process • It is a sustainable medium • Low cost popular mass medium • The medium of broadcast is English, Hindi or language of the region

  4. USE OF AUDIO • Talks to reinforce the understanding of hard spots • Conversations • Quizzes • Dramatisation

  5. Responsibility of the Community Colleges On receiving a letter from the Community College Unit, they will contact the nearest GyanVani Station to know about the available slots, normally twice a week.

  9. Bachelor of Arts (BA) • FEG-02 (4 Credits) • One Foundation Course in (4 Credits) Indian Language • Courses in any one particular discipline, (24 Credits) from among the following: Hindi, English, Urdu, History, Economics, Political Sciences, Public Administration, Philosophy and Sociology • Additional credits (BHSF-101) (8 Credits) Total – 40 Credits

  10. Bachelor of Commerce(BCOM) • All the 52 Credits ECO-01, ECO-02, ECO-03, ECO-05, ECO-06, ECO-07, ECO-08, ECO-09, ECO-10, ECO-11, ECO-12, ECO-13 and ECO-14

  11. BCOM – Contd… Out of which any 32 Credits can be selected for the Third Year. The remaining 20 Credits can be done parallelly or during the subsequent year.

  12. Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA) There is a uniform structure for 32 Credits of Third Year which has to be done by all the students

  13. BCA – Contd… • Depending on the courses offered by the students at the different Community Colleges, the additional courses have been identified which varies from a total of 10-20 Credits • For remaining courses of 1st and 2nd Year there will either be Credit Transfer or Credit Exemption.

  14. Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) 1st Six months - BSWE001 (8 Credits) Theory BSWL001 (8 Credits) Practicum  2nd Six Months - BSWE002 (8 Credits) Theory BSWL002 (8 Credits) Practicum  3rd Six Months - BSWE003 (8 Credits) Theory BSWL003 (8 Credits) Practicum Total - 48 Credits

BSW – Contd… • A learner can opt English or Hindi as a Medium of instruction • The instructors at the Community Colleges should follow Guidelines of SOSW and the Programmes Guide of BSW in respect of delivery of the prgramme. They should also follow the Practitioners’ Guide (MSWL-007). The qualification of the Academic Counsellors and Field Work Superintendents should be MSW/MA(Social Work).

  16. Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS)/ Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) BHM, in addition to BTS, be permitted for Vertical Mobility from ADP

BTS/BHM – Contd… • The students shall be eligible to take admission in the 3rd Year (5th Semester) of Bachelor of Hotel Management (BHM) after completing one semester bridge course prescribed by IGNOU. • The bridge course shall be of 24-32 Credits compulsory to all integrated modules on Hotel Management.

  18. Additional Credits • The requirement for additional credits in case of every programme has been analyzed. The number is found to range from 10-20 Credits. • In other words, the maximum requirement is 20 Credits, which is nearly 30% of the credits earned by the students of the Community College during their ADP. Thus about 70% of the requirement of First and Second year taken together gets accomplished through ADP.

  19. Fee • The usual fees for the Third Year have to be paid. In every case in respect of BCA, it has to be paid semester-wise like any other IGNOU student • For additional course, fees are to be paid on pro-rata basis. For the case of Credit Exemption only ` 50 per course have to be paid. In case of Credit Transfer, no fee is to be paid.

  20. Support Services The support services of the programmes are to be organized through Community Linked Learner Centre (CLLC) which essentially would function as Special Study Centres linked with Community Colleges. In case of BCA, the students concerned will be attached with suitable Programme Study Centres for BCA.
