  4. Norwegian and international Statistics • About 370 000 people • 4-10% of worlds population (8-20% in South America) • Women more exposed then men • WHO (4th on ranking) – 2020 (3rd)

  5. Restrictions from government • Total smoking ban in public spaces (Also restaurants) – 2004 • National free COPD number • Increase awareness of COPD in the population • Strengthen the focus on preventive measures against smoking amongst adolescents • Smoke-free schools • Training of primary health care physician such as GPs to advice patients on how to quit smoking. • Routine documentation of smoking habits in patient records • Tobacco tax (0,4 USD per cigarette) • 4,5 Billion NOK each year! (797 million USD/494 million GBP)
