  2. Agreement: • Articles and adjectives match the gender and number of the nouns they describe • Remember that every noun is either masculine or feminine!!! • Nouns ending in –o= usually masculine • Nouns ending in –a = usually feminine

  3. Articles • Articles are a part of speech that come before nouns • Definite articles: used with nouns to indicate specific persons, places, or things (the) • Indefinite articles: used with nouns to indicate nonspecific persons, places, or things (a, an, some)

  13. Exceptions • Adjectives that end in –e match both genders • El maestrointeligente • La maestrainteligente

  14. Exceptions • Many adjectives that end in a consonant match both genders • El amigojoven • La amigajoven

  15. Pluralize! • To make an adjective plural, add –s if it ends in a vowel • Add –esif it ends in a consonant • Las chicastrabajadoras • Los chicostrabajadores

  16. Exceptions • Some adjectives that end in a consonant add –a to form the feminine singular. (¡Lo siento! You just have to memorize them) • El chicotrabajador • La chicatrabajadora
