Government Contracting Information • Customer Size / Buying Power • Federal Government is the Single Largest buyer in the world • State Governments buy more than the Federal Gov’t • Local Governments buy more than State Governments • “Will the Government buy my product / service?” • Government prime contracts and sub-contracts awarded to companies in NW PA in the last 2 years • Over 490 prime and sub- contracts awarded at the Federal and State level • Contracts worth over $190,490,000!!!

Our Goal Provide the information, opportunities and technical assistance to area manufacturers and service providers so that they are able to pursue and obtain government prime and subcontract work at the Federal, State & Local level of Governments. BOTTOM LINE We want to grow the region and if the region grows, everyone grows!

Background • Funded by Federal gov’t and Commonwealth of PA • As a part of the statewide economic development initiative known as “Enterprise Development,” the NW PTAC opened its doors in October 1983. • In 1985, the Commission applied for and was successful in obtaining funding under the US Department of Defense Cooperative Agreement Program to provide procurement outreach services. This program is monitored by the Defense Logistics Agency.

Services • Initial assessment of government marketing potential • Free daily Bid Match Service • Provide military specifications and standards • Assist with required certificates and registrations • Counsel on completion of Request for Quotes (RFQ) / Request for Proposals (RFP) • Provide information on small business categories • Provide training seminars

  6. Initial Assessment • Prime Contracting • Subcontracting Bid Match Service (electronic bid leads) • E-mailed directly to company based on search criteria • Search criteria is comprised of key words & NAICS / SIC codes and geographic scope

  7. Military Specs and Standards • Provided free of charge Basic Required Certifications and Registrations • PA Vendor Number (State) • DUNS Number (Federal) • CCR Registration (Federal) • ORCA Registration (Federal) • Product Codes (Federal)
