PTAC • The PTAC Network was started in 1985 by the Department of Defense to assist small businesses in selling to the government. • PTAC is a nationwide network with 95 centers. • OH PTAC is a technical assistance program funded by the DoD, Ohio Department of Development and various other entities. • Services are provided at NO COST! • Locally through Lakeland Community College • Room 222 in the Engineering Building

  3. PTAC Services • PTAC provides assistance with the entire procurement process, including • Bid Matching • Bid Preparation • Website Training • Certification Assistance • Registration Assistance • Capabilities Statements • Just ask!

  4. Capabilities Statement Why have a Capabilities Statement? • Serves as your calling card • Required by many Government agencies and Primes • Proof of qualification • Proof of past performance

  5. Capabilities Statement Keep it Simple • Use bullet points • Short sentences • No long narratives • Simple language • No trade language or jargon • Call the document a “Capability Statement” • Show branding and logo elements

  6. Capabilities Statement Past Performance • List customers for whom you have done similar work • Show benefit to the customer • Do not list projects not relevant to agency’s needs • Include contact information • Show you brought the project in on time and at budget
