  2. Foundation’s Goal To promote and strengthen a socially and economically healthy and homogeneous society in our country, by drawing inspiration from our ancient heritage, philosophy and culture.

How does BHF function? • Works at the grass roots through and with well established field entities known for their integrity and credibility in carefully selected geographical areas • Calls for projects and review them before financing, for their viability, sustainability and benefit-productivity • Seeks to monitor projects during implementation for mid course correction and evaluates completed projects for their benefits and adherence to project assumptions

How does BHF function? • Calls for local contribution in cash and kind to projects to be financed • Seeks to keep the administrative costs both for the projects and for the Foundation to the minimum • Encourages participation of potential beneficiaries in shaping and executing the projects, to ensure sustainability • Ensures documentation for accountability and for self - learning

Our Achievements • Evening classes for 1400 girls and boys, aged 10 – 16 years, in two districts of Tamil Nadu – 70% of beneficiaries from the most backward sections of society • Tutorial classes for Public Examinations (10th and 12th Grade) in Tamil Nadu for 125 girls Special Coaching 10th Grade • Travel cum cultural camp for 80 children with a rich routine of physical exercise and exposure to value based heritage stories and simple talks on personal development • Special training programs for teachers to improve their skills and enhance their impact on the children

Our Achievements • 2 Day Integrated Cattle and Organic Farming Camp for 28 Women and 22 Men, with exposure to practical talks by high professionals in water and soil management, conversion of rural waste into wealth and organic farming • Animal Health Camp for 379 animals belonging to 300 marginal farmers from 11 villages, examined and advised by several high veterinary experts and supply of medication and vaccines Animal Husbandry Camp • Women’s gynecology camp for 315 women (70% from backward classes and 9% Dalits) from 32 remote villages; examination, advice and medication, by 6 women gynecology specialists

Projects on the Anvil • Scholarship for para-professional and crafts training up to the stage of employment • Develop and run Village Knowledge and Training Centers supported by basic computer literacy • Puppets and Shadow Play Shows, an ancient art form, to present heritage and moral stories in rural areas, emphasizing the importance of human dignity and wholesome value system
