What Do You Do with a 200 TB Disk Drive? • Approaching 50th anniversary of disk drive (2006) • At current rates, should have a 200 TB disk drives in 2013 • “Moore’s Law” for drive capacity is 2x in 12 months • Would take ~30 years to load over a T1 line • Preload with stuff you would put there anyway • Library of Congress (24 TB) • 50,000 hrs of movies (100 TB) • Pay on use? • Need new ways to view personal archive (thanks to Brian Hayes) BDEI 2003
