  2. TRIOS Upgrade • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes I’m about to order a new system. What should I do to get shade measurement? • All color systems ordered later than 2014-Feb-20 will automatically be able to measure shade. A color calibration kit will be included in the delivery. (Note: Calibration kit will be ready approx. 2014-Jul-1. Customers placing orders from 2014-Feb-20 will therefore have the calibration kit shipped separately). • Standard monochrome systems cannot measure shade as they do not provide color information at all.

Will it be able to measure shades? • It depends on the serial number of your color scanner: • T1344xxxxxx or higher: Ready to measure shades if you acquire a color calibration kit. • T1342xxxxxx or T1343xxxxxx: check if scanner is shade-capable or needs upgrade (next pages) • T1341xxxxxx or lower: Scanner is not shade-capable, but may be upgraded by 3Shape. • Standard monochrome scanners cannot measure shades as they do not provide color information at all.

  6. TRIOS Upgrade • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes If a scanner is not shade-capable: Can it be upgraded? • It is possible to upgrade color scanners to measure shade. This requires a) an active subscription and b) that the scanner is shipped to a repair facility (will take approx. 2-3 weeks, depending on load). You pay for: Shipping of scanner and color calibration kit You do not pay for: Upgrade of the scanner • If a customer has a standard monochrome scanner and would like to upgrade to colors and shades: Contact 3Shape for a trade-in deal.

  7. TRIOS Upgrade • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes Does it matter if system is Cart, Pod or Chair Integration solution? • No. The capability to measure shades is in the scanner itself, so with a shade-enabled scanner you can use shade measurement on carts, pods and chair integrated systems. 

  8. TRIOS Upgrade • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes Do I need to do something extra? • Shade measurement requires that you make a color calibration from time to time, using the calibration kit described above. The software will notify when it’s time to calibrate and the procedure takes about 1 minute. • If calibration messages are ignored for 30 days, the system will disable shade measurement.

TRIOS Upgrade • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes Which software is required to measure shade? • You need TRIOS 2014 to measure shade, i.e. software version 1.3.0.0 or higher. • Expected release date of final version: April 2014. • If you need to demonstrate the new functionality at shows, you may obtain a beta-version by contacting support.

Uprade procedure • FAQ 1.3.1.0 changes My TRIOS scanner needs to be upgrade what is the procedure? • Request upgrade: 1 email per scanner, send to support@3shape.com. • Case is created with unique case number for reference. • Support will schedule a date interval with Production in Poland for the upgrade, and the case contact person will be informed when to send the scanner. • An RMA will be issued. • Customer sends the scanner & the calibration object on the pre-defined date. • 3shape arrange pickup via DHL • Reseller will be charged for a new one calibration object if it is not sent. • NO TRIOS CART OR POD is needed. Only the scanner wand

  11. Upgrade procedure • FAQ 1.3.0.0 changes My TRIOS scanner needs to be upgrade what is the procedure? • The upgrade itself is carried out at no cost. • Customer pays for shipping both way. (Estimate 160Euros) • Customer must purchase a color calibration object • Item 82610050 Color Calibration Kit (1 color target & 2 tip adaptors) • Reseller cost 400Euros • By scheduling in the upgrades in advance the time the scanner needs to be out of the clinic is minimized. • Reseller to offer loaner unit to customer on an as needed basis
