Included in SLHC8 • Numerous bug fixes • Several requests from DQM to improve validation performance. • Optimisedmuon validation • Changed configuration of track truth association. • Some behind the scenes changes. • All fixes should cut validation at 140 pileup from 27 minutes per event to ~5 minutes. • L1 Trigger tracking code. • New geometry scenarios (next slide) • Many more changes, but not relevant to most people. Full list in backup.

  3. Several new geometry scenarios • BE5DPixel10D - 2019 detector with 5 disc tracker and 10 disc pixel covering up to 4 eta. • Extended2023 - baseline design with Phase1 HCal until a Phase2 calorimeter is fully working. • Extended2023HGCalMuon - High Granularity Calorimeter; details next. • Extended2023SHCal - Shashlik calorimeter; details next. • Extended2023SHCal4Eta - Shashlik with higher coverage; details next. • Extended2023TTI - track trigger studies require full Trigger Primitives, which are currently only available for the Phase 0 calorimeter. 5 disc tracker and 10 disc pixels. No room for ME0 with the Phase 0 calorimeter. • Extended2023Muon - Phase 2 calorimeter, 5 disc tracker and 10 disc pixels. ME0 included. • Extended2023CFCal - geometry included but not currently configurable from runTheMatrix. • Extended2023CFCal4Eta - geometry included but not currently configurable from runTheMatrix. In the names above “extended” just means that forward detector components (e.g. totem) are included

  7. To accommodate the new geometry scenarios, the numbering scheme for runTheMatrix tests has changed. These are now: Where xx is a number between 0 and 48 which defines the physics process. E.g. runTheMatrix.py-w upgrade –l 10203,12003 runs a single 1TeV electron through 2019 and Extended2023. To list all available workflows: runTheMatrix.py -n -w upgrade The “--dryRun” option will allow you to see the cmsDriver command required for your own studies.

  8. Not all steps currently run for all scenarios. For the new scenarios that do run, the results still need to be validated.

  9. Planned for SLHC9 • Working digitisation and reco steps for the new scenarios • Include the two CFCal scenarios in runTheMatrix
