  5. 2x + 5 = 11 Solve ax + b = c for x

  6. Solve the equation ab + cd = g for c • Solve the equation ab + cd = g for a.

  7. 1) Solve 3x - 6y = 17 for x.To get x by itself, what is the first step? • Add 3x • Subtract 3x • Add 6y • Subtract 6y

  8. 1) Solve 3x - 6y = 17 for y.To get x by itself, what is the first step? • Add 3x • Subtract 3x • Add 6y • Subtract 6y

  9. You Try! 1. P= IRT for T 2. A= 2(L + W) for W

  10. You Try! 3. y= 5x - 6 for x 4. 2x +3y = 8 for y

  11. 9z + 2a = 3j – 4x

  12. The perimeter of my living room rug is 57 ft. Calculate the width. l = 16ft.

  13. a. Solve the formula for the height h. b. Use formula from a. to find the height of the triangle shown, which has a base of 5cm and an area of 50cm. The area A of a triangle is given by the formula A = ½bh where b is the base and h is the height. h b

  14. 5 9 Celsius vs. Fahrenheit Celsius and Fahrenheit are different scales to measure temperature. Celsius: used in most countries around the world. Fahrenheit: used in the USA only.
