  1. English 10 Honors day 15 Objective: - To understand the historical and social context of Julius Caesar

  2. Homework • Grade 10 Steps chapter 4 practices • Review tests due on day 17 • Grade Shakespeare worksheets

  3. Shakespeare • As a group, add things about Shakespeare from your page to the class chart. • As we discuss the chart, add anything you did not already have written down.

  4. Shakespeare’s Rhetoric • Describe someone or something using invented words. This person or object should be someone/thing that others could easily guess. • Read through the two articles titled “Everyday Language” and “Inventing Words with the Hyphen.” Rewrite your description using Shakespearean wording, including hyphenated words. • Example: • They are all marble-headed, languageless, shoulder-clapping people. They’re foul-spoken, stretched-mouth kin. They are testy and foul. Most of all they’re nimble-footed. • Read your description to your partner. Guess what each person is describing.

  5. Shakespearean Insults • Based on your understanding of Shakespearean language and the chart of potential insulting terms, create a list of insults. • Share your insults with other and discuss different scenarios in which you may use them.
