Moscone Center North & South Capital Improvements: Overview • Significant improvements to aging Moscone facilities are critical in order for the City to remain competitive in today’s convention and meeting marketplace. • Many first tier cities, like San Francisco, across the country are expanding and/or renovating their existing facilities, making them more attractive to planners. • The City is at risk of losing market share if major improvements are not initiated immediately.

Moscone Center North & SouthCapital Improvements: Status • Airwall Replacements • Esplanade Ballroom – completed December 31, 2009 • Moscone North Hall E – completed February 15, 2010 • Fire Life Safety System Upgrade • 75% Complete • 120-day “Deep Dive” • Project Start – February 1, 2010 • Estimated Completion – May 27, 2010 • Comprehensive report of project scope, projected budget and timelines to be prepared by public/private partnership of DPW Project Management and Jones, Lang, LaSalle (JLL).

Moscone Center North & SouthCapital Improvements: Project Budget • Proposed Expenditures: • COP Projects – $35,000,000 • TID Projects– $30,470,000 • Moscone Expansion Start Up Costs - $7,530,000 • Projected revenues • COP Proceeds – $35,000,000 (approximate net) • TID Proceeds – $38,000,000 (current projection) • Expenditures & Encumbrances to Date: • Esplanade Ballroom Airwall Replacement Project - $2,371,983 • Hall E Airwall Replacement Project – $1,238,895 • Fire Life Safety System Upgrade Project - $1,158,711 • Deep Dive – DPW $40,000 + JLL $224,450

  5. Moscone Center North & SouthCapital Improvements: Challenges/Opportunities • Difficult to schedule projects in a fully operating convention center • Capital improvements will result in infrastructure & aesthetic enhancements necessary for San Francisco to stay competitive
