  2. Efficiencies in Policing • For 3 years the Town has been reviewing options for more cost- efficient methods of policing • Town and Villages commissioned merger study • Options being considered: • Merger with either or both village PDs • Contract for police services with County

  3. Town of Ossining • Unincorporated Town: • Approx. 3 sq. miles • Population 5,514 • Households 1,693 Town and Villages of Ossining and Briarcliff Manor each have their own police depts.

  4. Town Police Department • Current patrol deployment: • Days – 2 POs, 1Sgt. • Eves – 2 POs, 1 Sgt. • MN – 1 PO, 1 Sgt. • Sgt. on Desk; POs each on patrol in car. • Non-Patrol Deployment: • 1 Detective–Investigations • 1 Detective–SRO • 1 P/T PO–Court Security

  5. Contracted Police Services • Dedicated Patrol Services 8 am – 4 pm 2 Police Officers in cars on patrol 4 pm – 12 am 2 Police Officers in cars on patrol 12 am – 8 am 1 Police Officer in car on patrol • 24/7 Supervision (Shared)

  6. Contracted Police Services Contract for county police services will result in immediate benefits to Town

  7. Contracted Police Services • meet or exceed the current staffing • 24/7 first-line supervision and command staff • fully integrated access to county resources • continue the School Resource Officer program, and • provide for retention of rank and seniority for Town police officers

  8. Contracted Police Services Preliminary estimate of cost savings in 2011 $$832,000 - $932,000
