Rock Island Arsenal Footprint • 950 Acre Island with 62 tenant organizations. • National Historic Landmark • Rock Island Arsenal is DOD’s only remaining vertically integrated manufacturing facility. • Areas Second Largest Employer – 6,237 Civilian and 378 Military • State of the Art Information Technology Infrastructure. • Total of 6.5 million square feet of building space at Rock Island Arsenal • Manufacturing 2.4 million square feet • Warehouse 2.2 million square feet • Administrative 1.5 million square feet • Production of Army Requirements – HMMWV armor kits, Artillery/Gun Mounts, Artillery/Tank Spare Parts, Trailer Resets, and Mobile Shop Sets.

  3. Arsenal Support Program Initiative • ASPI enacted by Congress for FY 2001. • Demonstration program modeled after the ARMS program and has been extended through FY2008. • Three Arsenals are Rock Island, IL, Watervliet, NY and Pine Bluff, ARK. • Program received $9M for FY2005.

Goals of ASPI Goals of ASPI • Encourage commercial firms to utilize and invest in these facilities. • Reduce product and ownership costs. • Provide utilization of existing critical skills and maintain readiness. • Maintain and modernize infrastructure and reduce environmental costs. • Economic impact to surrounding communities through job creation.
