  1. Applications of NMR techniques Juan Perlo, Federico Casanova, and Bernhard Blümich Institut für Technische Chemie und Makromolekulare Chemie RWTH - Worringerweg 1, 52056 Aachen, Germany.

  2. CH3–CH2 H C=C H CHO tomography spectroscopy Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

  3. relaxometry water oil Single-sided NMR • Quality control • Well-logging • Medical diagnosis • Cultural Heritage: • - Porosimetry in frescos • - Stones conservation • - Degradation of paper

  4. the minispec ProFiler (Bruker BioSpin) 150 mm 25 mm object profiles A new design* (ITMC, Aachen University) the NMR MOUSE (Aix NMR) Single-sided NMR sensors * J. Perlo, F. Casanova, B. Blümich, Single-sided NMR sensor with microscopic depth resolution, (under patent process).

  5. Spectrometer PC Preamplifier Lift Sensor The setup

  6. canvas paint Painting in canvas Oil painting on canvas from 18th century, from Grand...Grandfather from Prof. Blümich

  11. 2 1 3 4 5 Relaxation times vs colors • Slice 25 mm • Measuring time 50 s !!!

  12. Conclusions and future work • Single-sided NMR measurements have been successfully implemented. • Clear differences between tempera and oil have been detected. • A correlation of relaxation time vs color was obtained. • Lateral resolution: By repositioning the sensor and NMR tomography • We are going to measure in real painting

  13. Acknowledgments • K. Kupferschläger (Lift) • Prof. Antonio Sgamellotti (Perugia) • EU-ARTECH project €€€ To you All !!! Back to Index.ppt
