Who was in the war? • There was the Allies which included the U.S.A, Great Britain, Soviet Union (Modern day Russia), Australia, Ireland, France, China, Poland, Scotland, Belgium, Canada, New Zeland, Newfoundland, South Africa, Brazil, Czechoslovakia, Ethiopia, Greece, India, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Yugoslavia • There was the Axis which included Germany (Nazi's), Japan, Italy

What weapons were used? • U.S.A.-Browning automatic rifle, B.A.R. machine gun, Bazooka, Flamethrower, Mortar, Hand Grenade, Colt pistol, M1 Gararnd sniper • U.K.-M1 Garand rifle, Sten machine gun, Browning M2 machine gun, Colt new service, Grenade m112, Flamethrower • Soviet Union- Mauser C-96 handgun, Tokerav SZT-40 rifle, Thompson Machine gun, Coach shotgun, Flamethrower • Canada- Enfield revolver, Lee Enfield rifle, Lewis machine gun, Flamethrower, Mills bomb, fighting knife, Sten machine gun • Australia- Browning pistol, Rifle MK-5, Owen machine gun, Vickers machine gun, mills bomb • China- Lugar pistol, type 24 rifle, MP18 machine gun, Type 11 machine gun, Dadao knife, hand grenades

  6. Where did it take place? • In the, France, East Asia, Poland, Russia, China, Germany, Berlin, The U.S.A., Britain, and Japan a bit.

  7. When was the war? • From 1939-1945

  8. How many served? • 65 million from all around the world • 16.1 million from the U.S. Including my Grandpa • 1.1 million from Canada • Including people from Poland and France who helped downed airmen and fought the Germans too even though they controlled these countries

  9. How many died? • Over 32 million people died (2.5% of the worlds population) • Many died in prison especially in German Concentration camps

  10. When did countries come into the war? • Japan invaded China in 1939 • Germany and Poland and France and Russia in 1939 • The U.S. in 1941 • Britain in 1940

  11. Najavo Code Talkers • A unit who spoke a certain language that other enemy soldiers could not understand

  12. When were they formed and how many people were involved in it when it started? • In 1942 and 300 men were involved and less than 30 non-Navajos could understand the language

  13. How did they help? • They helped by no one could understand them so they could not give away info • Also they could sneak around well to get info and they helped the marines take Iwo Jima(See slide 5)

  14. How many soldiers were involved? • In total 800 were involved in it

  15. How many were captured? • 45 were captured in the war

  16. How many were killed? • 95 were killed in the war estimated

  17. What was their code from? • It was from an ancient language from Egypt

  18. How long did their code last? • Some people still know it today but most do not

  19. How many veterans are still alive today? • About 65 veteran Navajo code talkers are still alive today

  20. Why was it so important? • Other people could not understand the code so the enemy’s could not get info

  21. What were some words that they had? • chay-da-gahi meant tank • Gini was dive bomber • Besh-lo ment submarine

  22. Where were they deployed? • They were deployed by the U.S. Army and sent to mostly the Pacific and a little bit in Europe

  23. What was their job? • To send messages to other places and not get detected by the Axis

  24. How many people and artillery did they save? • They saved thousands of lives and hundreds of artillery
