HR LIAISON ROLES • Serve as last point of contact between department and DHR for paperwork • Serve as first point of contact for department employees • Disseminate information • Ensure clear lines of communication about HR matters • Apprise central HR about departmental concerns • Understand HR policies and procedures

  4. 2008-09 HIGHLIGHTS • You helped us process over 8,500 employee actions • With your help, we disseminated over 60 communications • You helped us update over 3,000 positions with the “Reports To” information • Human Resources established the Recruitment Consultative Model • Implemented the Pre-Employment Requirements Policy • Rolled out the Performance Excellence Process

TLC BRIGADE • The “Tender Loving Care” Brigade Program, an initiative of President Rosenberg, is intended to demonstrate kindness, respect and appreciation for employees and retirees of the university • The committee will be comprised of a team of volunteer faculty, staff and retirees who will provide support and compassion to FIU constituents in addition to representing the university at special events • Employees may contact committee members directly or complete an online notification form to communicate circumstances affecting members of the FIU community and retirees • The team will provide support and/or resources to those in need, to the extent possible and consistent with privacy considerations

FIU STEPP PROGRAM • The “Striving to Enhance Personal Performance” Program will offer bi-monthly, one-hour sessions to promote the personal and professional development of all faculty, staff and administrative employees • Leaders from both FIU and the community will be engaged to present at the events • Topics will include: •  Healthier Lifestyles• Making a Difference in the • Community• Financial & Legal Affairs• Leadership and Supervisory • Excellence

PRESIDENTIAL SALUTE • This initiative is designed to help recognize employees providing quality service to students, internal and external constituents • Human Resources will review nominations submitted via the online form • President Rosenberg will send a Presidential Salute to selected nominees to express his appreciation for his or her service to the university

  9. EMPLOYEE SERVICE AND RECOGNITION AWARDS • The Employee Service and Recognition Awards Ceremony will be a combined event this year • Employees who achieved a service milestone or retired between January 1 and December 31, 2008 will be recognized • Nominations for the Recognition Awards are now being accepted at hr.fiu.edu/go/awards • The invitation-only event will take place on October 27, 2009

ACTION ITEMS • Communication Items • Look out for Tips for Telephone Service Delivery, TLC Brigade and Presidential Salute e-mails and share with everyone in your department • Remind benefit-earning employees about the Open Enrollment Period (September 14, 2009 – October 9, 2009). Look out for communication on open labs • Encourage faculty, staff and administrative employees to submit nominations for Employee Service and Recognition Awards – Deadline is October 5, 2009 • Remind supervisors of the PEP Deadline of September 30, 2009 • Action Items • Complete the HR Liaisons Survey due today
