  4. What do we need for TF implementation • Binding global rules • Recommendations • Best practices • Tools for electronic communication

  5. UN/CEFACT-The UN Centre for trade facilitation and electronic business provide a platform for • sector neutral work • public-private partnership • focus on user needs together with IT-industry • transparency in work process • sustainability and maintenance

  6. UN/CEFACT has produced • 34 recommendations (general and specific) • 2 recommendations are UN rec • Best practice • Standards and other tools for electronic communications

  7. UN/CEFACT focuses onward on • modelling of business processes • buy-ship-pay model for supply chain • semantic content • implementation • capacity building

  8. Swedish engagement and implementation • Initiated document standardisation in 1960 • Participated in development of UN/EDIFACT • Participated in development of recommendations e g rec no 18, LOCODES • UN/EDIFACT use in public-private sector e g Customs, retail sector • Now great support for “new generation CEFACT products” for implementation in all sectors incl governmental agencies and local authorities

  9. At last • Countries and organisations worldwide create UN/CEFACT • Active support by human resources and funding gives UN/CEFACT possibilities to work better, faster and broader
