  3. ABSTRACT • Objective/Goals- The objective of this experiment was to find out what happens when a chicken bone is put in vinegar. My goal was to observe the process of decomposition. • Methods and Materials: I put a chicken bone in vinegar and watched it for 2 weeks. At the end of the two weeks I took it out of the jar and examined it. • Results: When I took the bone out of the vinegar it had become soft and flexible. • Conclusion: The acid in the vinegar breaks down the mineral calcium and caused the bone to become flexible. • 2

  15. Bone Report Bones are vital to the human skeletal system. There are 206 bones in the adult human skeleton and 275 bones in a newborn baby’s skeleton. Human bones are found inside the body. The specific jobs of the bones are to provide shape and support, enable movement, protect organs, produce blood cells and store minerals and other materials. Bones are living tissues and are important the the production and storage of materials in the body. Red blood cells are created in the marrow of the bone at a rate of 2.6 million per second. In addition, bones store minerals such as calcium and phosphorus.
