  2. Course Description • Students expand their comprehension in understanding, speaking, reading, writing, and cultural understanding of Spanish. Thematic units include; school day, special events, your community, memories of the past, news, TV, movies and foods. Student Evaluation Process • Homework- will be assigned on most workdays. • Classwork • - will be checked everyday. • Vocabulary Tests • - every Friday. • Quizzes • - will be given weekly. • Tests- are given when enough material has been covered. • Reports and Projects • There will be a report or project every nine weeks. • Make-up work • Make-up work is your responsibility. You have two days for every one-day of absence to make it up after you return to school.

Student Evaluation, cont. • Grading Policy •  Your grade is determined by dividing the total points earned by the total points possible.A=100-90 • B=89-80 • C=79-70 • D=69-60 F=59-50 • Extra Credit. There will be opportunities to earn extra credit, more specifically by participating in cultural and academic activities ie; Big Bend Modern Language Exposition.Exams. You will take an exam at the end of each semester. The exam grade, along with the two nine-week grades will determine your semester average. Your semester averages are what will remain on you permanent high school transcript.

Student Evaluation • This is how your semester average is calculated: • Semester Grade9 wks.9 wks.Exam • A 8 pts. 8 pts. 4 pts. 18-20 • B 6 pts. 6 pts. 3 pts. 13-17 • C 4 pts. 6 pts. 2 pts. 8-12 • D 2 pts. 2 pts. 1 pt. 3-7 • F 0 pts. 0 pts. 0 pts. 0-2 Unidad 1-3 will be covered during the first semester and Unidad 4 and 5 during the second semester.

Rules and Procedures (Backpacks, Cell phones, Electronics, Hall passes, etc.) • Students must conduct themselves in a manner that is: • · Safe • · Respectful • · Responsible • CONSEQUENCES FOR CHOOSING TO BREAK RULES • 1ST infraction: verbal warning; behavior recorded • 2nd infraction: behavior recorded; parent notified • 3rd infraction: after-school detention • 4th infraction: office referral • Severe disruptions may result in other consequences

  8. Continuation • Discipline plan. • TARDY POLICY • This school-wide policy will be implemented for each individual student and will function during each grading period. The loss of a student planner will result in the loss of ALL student passport privileges for the current grading period. Any subsequent tardies will result in automatic detentions. Replacement planners will be marked accordingly. • 1st tardy: loss of one hall pass; tardy recorded • 2nd tardy: loss of one hall pass; parent notified • 3rd tardy: loss of one hall pass; tardy recorded; parent notified; after-school detention • 4th tardy: loss of hall pass; tardy recorded; parent notified; office referral
