  4. Excited- There are many great opportunities to look forward to! • Nervous- Starting middle school can be a little scary. Don’t worry… lots of other students will feel nervous as well! _____________________________________ • Sad- It can be hard if you aren’t in the same classes with your friends. You will have opportunities to make new friends in middle school.

  12. Course Selection Sheets • Soon you and your child will be choosing his/her classes for 6th grade. The course selection sheet looks like…..

  13. Schedules • You will receive your schedule in the mail approximately 1 week before school begins. • You will have opportunities to visit the campus prior to the first day of school.

  14. More Independence • Sit anywhere in the cafeteria and have more food choices • Have 3-4 minutes between classes • Friends +/- • Keep belongings in a locker

  15. Keep your Locker Neat A messy locker can slow you down and make you late for class. Stopping to talk to your friends at your locker can, too. Try to keep your conversations brief.

  16. What can fit into a locker? Home away from home Jacket/purse Books/Folders

  17. Standard Code of Dress • Shirts: Any solid colored polo or collared shirt (shirts should not have logos, stripes, etc.) • Pants/Shorts/Skirts: Navy, black, or khaki • Belts • Shoes

  19. Dress Down Days • Students will have opportunities to dress down.

  20. Use Your Agenda- • It helps you stay on track. Take it to every class. Write all homework, meetings or practices in it. It also has a calendar and your hall passport inside.

  21. Be Sure You Understand Your Assignments If you have questions… ask! Other students may have the same questions.

  22. DCMS will open at 7:45 a.m. Students will begin to transition to their homebase at 8:20 a.m. Class begins at 8:30 a.m. Car-riders should enter/exit via the Mt. Gallant Road entrance. The Car pool lane is behind the school. Parents should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance. Bus-riders should enter/exit via the Museum Road entrance. Feel free to contact the Transportation Complex at 980-2022 if you have questions. Transportation Information
