Friendly City Food Co-Op Alignment with M.V.V.To create the Friendly City Food Co-op as a consumer-owned, democratically-run cooperative that will operate a retail grocery store that emphasizes healthy foods, quality goods, and local products. Full-scale, natural and organic grocery store that puts a premium on using local farmers and producers. Healthy, wholesome foods, organic produce, and environmentally sound products are emphasized, as well as the sale of locally grown produce, meats and variety of other local items We support local farmers and artisans and provide education on healthy foods and lifestyle choices. While all of these things may be provided at other various locations throughout Harrisonburg, our store  provides a one stop shopping destination that fulfills all of these needs.   6. Friendly City Food Co-Op Funding Efficiency What is a co-op? A business owned and democratically controlled by it’s members. Memberships can be as low as $25 monthly installments. Other Ways to support: Member Loans, you loan your money (minimum $1000) returned in 7-9 years with as much as %4 interest. Common Stock Investments, up to 20 shares valued at $200 each can be be bought, (although each owner maintains only one vote regardless of shares owned)Meaning up to $4000 can be invested.   7. Friendly City Food Co-Op Geographic Reach/Need The Friendly City Food Co-Op serves the greater Harrisonburg/Rockingham area. It locally sources most products from all over the state of Virginia, however some products need to be sourced from non-local sources to make it a full-service grocery store.   8. Cats Cradle Program Impact • Provides spay-neuter assistance to low income individuals in 4 local Counties • TNR for Feral Cat Colony Caretakers • Foster and Adoption of Cats  • Pet-retention and Re-homing Assistance • Volunteers do 80% of the work at Cats Cradle

  9. Cats Cradle Continued… • Mission/Vision/Values: • “Cat’s Cradle’s mission is to ensure & maintain a safe, compassionate community for cats and dogs. Cats Cradle emphasizes aggressive spay/neuter of owned animals and TNR of feral cats.”

  10. Funding Efficiency • Funding is Obtained through: • Donations • Foster Moms and Dads • Volunteers (80% of Work) • Member of “GoodSearch” • Fundraisers (events/yard sales/etc.)

  12. Halo Trust • Organization that removes the debris left behind by war, in particular landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) • Operates in 10 countries • Founded in 1988 • Full-time staff of 8,000 • Annual Budget of $55 Million

Alignment of Services with Mission/Vision/Values • Organization that removes the debris left behind by war, in particular landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) •  over 1.4 mines destroyed • 340,068 acres made safe from unexploded and abandoned ordnance • over 12 million items of larger calibre ordnance destroyed • over 51 million bullets destroyed • over 134,000 assault rifles destroyed • 74,636 acres made safe from landmines
