But giving is not only about money. You can also give the gift of your time. Every New Zealander giving their time, their money, their experience, and their skills helps to enrich our society. • The origin of the word philanthropy is Greek meaning love for mankind.

  8. FUTURE CONSIDERATIONS • ACKNOWLEDGE PACIFIC PRINCIPLES OF PHILANTHROPY • UNDERSTAND WHY PACIFIC WILL GO WITHOUT AND CONTINUE TO GIVE REGARDLESS • ITS NOT THE AMOUNT THAT MATTERS, IT’S THE INTENT OF GIVING • PROMOTE FUNDING, PROVIDE WORKSHOPS, EDUCATE

  10. IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN…. • PHILANTROPHY IS VERY MUCH INHERENT AND IMMERSED WITHIN PASIFIKA PEOPLE AND ITS COMMUNITIES • THE TERMINOLOGY IS NEW YET…..IT’S SOMEWHAT DIFFERENT TO THE NORM……..

Pacific Philanthropy • A pacific philanthropist or grantmaker is a pacific person committed to making a difference in their families, churches and community through money they give. • It is all about giving. But giving is not only about money. Pacific people can also give the gift of their time. Every Pacific Islander giving their land, time, resources, their experience, and their knowledge helps to enrich society and future generations.
