  2. GOALS -Long Term To develop Linguistic Intelligence among students using 21st Century Teaching and Learning approaches. To endow students with higher-order thinking skills facilitating them in enhancing their ability to think and observe critically. To initiate change by encapsulating strategies for achieving specific outcomes for student -centered learning, through innovation and technology, while working hand- in hand with the school management, teachers, students, parents and the school council.

  3. GOALS- Short Term To develop proficiency in English, both oral and written. Develop alternatives to enhance pupils creative writing and comprehension skills enabling them to learn and retain rich vocabulary (e.g. through play script writing and book reviews). Focus on involving and encouraging student participation by providing opportunities to excel as individuals and monitoring their performance through positive feedback and rewards (e.g. Golden Pen Award, Student Editorial Board for Newsletter, Play writer’s Dramatics Society).

CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS Anticipated Challenges • Permission from the Principal. • Allocated time • Availability of Computer Lab • Lack of language comprehension and proficiency due to ESL(English being a second language) / ETL (English being a third language) • Availability to a variety of resource books by an author for book reviews • Availability of subject specialists/ coordinator for feedback • Access to internet Suggested Solutions • Approval from the Head and Principal after a detailed discussion • Inculcating agenda with curriculum lessons • Preemptive arrangements for Lab vacancy and internet • Effective use of Library and implementing programs to improve language skills • Forming a liaison with other English teachers to exchange resources and acquire feedback

  8. CONCLUSION “Getting a change implemented and certainly making it permanent often requires alterations to organizational systems or procedures. However to survive in this era of technological change, 21st Century approaches facilitate both the teachers and students. Today’s student can differentiate well between knowing what and knowing how. The changing learning behavior and needs, thus require a teaching methodology that improves students’ thinking. This positive shift to High-Order thinking skills will assist our future innovators to face the challenges with confidence.”
