School schedule 7:15 - Students arrive and eat breakfast 7:35 - Students go to their classrooms 7:45 - Tardy bell rings 12:00 - Recess 12:20 - Lunch 3:15 - School dismissed Gradebook Copperas Cove ISD has a new gradebook system. Parent access is currently unavailable. Notification will be sent home when it becomes accessible.

  3. Student Success Initiative (SSI) A student may advance to the next grade level only by passing these tests or by unanimous decision of his or her grade placement committee that the student is likely to perform at grade level after additional instruction. The goal of the SSI is to ensure that all students receive the instruction and support they need to be academically successful in reading and mathematics. This effort depends greatly on schools, parents, and community members working in partnership to meet individual student needs. Students must pass to be promoted!

  4. School Supplies Thank you to all who brought in school supplies. • Each subject is using a classroom journal. • Each teacher will keep a classroom set of: • Scissors • Pencils • Note Book Paper • Highlighters • Note Cards • Markers • Colored Pencils

For Misbehavior Actions Taken Ready to learn Step 1: Warning Step 2: -5 minutes of recess, reteach Step 3: -Think time in buddy room with a reflection sheet Step 4: Parent phone call Step 5: Loss of privilege, Parent phone call Step 6: Parent Conference, Loss of privilege for one week Step 7: Office Referral T= Talking OT= Off Task HP= Horseplay NFD= Not following direction NP= Not Prepared L= Inappropriate language D= disrespect (to peers or adult) H= inappropriate hall behavior ***Homeroom teachers call after three marks per day and/or 3 marks per week.***

  7. READ, READ, READ, READ, READ Read 30 minutes daily ~ Record on agenda Research shows 95% of successful students come from homes where they read daily. Reading helps support a growing brain, improves listening skills, builds skills across ALL subject areas.R READ, READ, READ, READ, READ

  8. Content & Homework ELAR – Spelling will be individualized - currently working on prefixes and suffixes in class - spelling lists will go home starting week 3, tests on Fridays unless otherwise noted. Work not completed in class will be homework. Math – Monthly homework calendars will go home at beginning of each month. Homework will be graded on a weekly basis. Any work unfinished in class will become homework. Social Studies – Homework will be assigned occasionally. Any work unfinished in class will become homework.

  9. Science Fair • Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade students are required to participate in the House Creek Elementary Science Fair. Students will be creating a Scientific Method Portfolio and display board over their chosen Scientific Investigation. • Each week their Science Teacher will present a new step in the Scientific Method and students will demonstrate their understanding by completing each step based on their Scientific Investigation at home. Students will receive grades on each step of the Scientific Method.

  10. Science Fair • For safety reasons, please be available to assist your child with research and any portions of the experiment that may pose a safety risk. • Please follow the Science Fair Project Timeline to ensure your student is completing the parts of the Project.
