  1. Oh the usual – the weather, the economy, the environment ... and now a trip to the vet! Hey Norm – why so glum?

  2. The what? Well, you don’t need to worry about the last one – this vet practice has been accredited by the RCVS!

  3. And that helps me how, exactly? The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. They regulate vets and vet nurses, and they also run the Practice Standards Scheme.

  4. OK,OK, I’m listening – keep your ears on Well, Norm, to get accredited, this practice has had to meet stringent standards...

  5. And that’s a good thing? ...in things like hygiene, staff training, equipment, facilities and out-of-hours emergency cover.

  6. Keep talking Of course it’s a good thing, Norm! They’ve had to work hard to get their accreditation...

  7. That doesn’t sound so bad... ...which shows they’re committed to looking after you as best they can.

  8. The RCVS inspects this practice every four years, and can carry out a spot inspection at any time. So I needn’t be so worried?

  9. No, Norm, the Practice Standards Scheme aims to promote and maintain the highest standards of veterinary care...

  10. That is good news! ...and the RCVS Inspector checks out the whole practice.

  11. Just watch out for the thermometer...
