Who are we? • Legambiente is the most widespread environmental organisation in Italy. • Created in 1980 for the safeguard of the environment, for the promotion of sustainable lifestyle and to raise awareness about environmental issues. • Following the spirit of the tenet “Think globally, act locally”, the activity of Legambiente is based on the work of 1.500 local groups and co-ordinated through 20 regional committees and a national headquarter in Rome. Who are we? • Legambiente is a non-partisan No Profit Organization and it is acknowledged as “association of environmental interest” by the italian Ministry of the Environment, and “Development NGO” by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. • We are part of the European Environmental Bureau(EEB) and members of the The World Conservation Union (IUCN). • We are also members of the International Commission for the Alps Protection (CIPRA) and we represent the UNEP National Committee for Italy. KEY WORDS • 'Think Globally, Act Locally': it is by making local changes that we can create a better environment for everyone on a global scale. • Scientific Environmentalism: we ground every campaign on accurate scientific data and we suggest a concrete and practical environmentally alternative. • Constant interest in educating people on environmental issues. • A strong involvement in the issues of nature conservation and to the policy of protected areas: parks and protected areas must be the first example of a economic and tourist sustainable and balanced development. Campaigns Clean up the Med Is a broad international campaign entirely dedicated to the safeguarding of the Mediterranean beaches and coasts, to focus and raise awareness on the issue of fossil-fuel pollution. Clean-up the World Is the italian edition of the greatest world-wide voluntary initiative for environmental protection, that every year sees millions of people cleaning up parks, public gardens and areas in decay.   6. Campaigns Goletta Verde (Green Schooner) is the widest campaign of analysis and information on sea pollution ever realised by an environmental organisation. Since 1986 has monitored the quality of italian seas and coastline. Since 2003 has been monitoring the coast of all the Mediterranean sea. Treno Verde (Green Train) is the railway version of “Goletta Verde”, that started in 1988 and visited and monitored over 100 cities per year, collecting and publishing data on air and noise pollution. Treno Verde promotes a sustainable mobility and reducing CO2 policies and best practices Cofinanced by European Regional Development Fund

  7. Campaigns PiccolaGrandeitalia is Legambiente’s campaign born in 2001 to publicise and increase the role and importance of the small Italian municipalities for environmental protection and quality of life ….. AND MORE! Cofinanced by European Regional Development Fund

CLIMATE CARAVAN WP 5.3 Transnational road campaign • Throughout the years this way of communication revealed its efficency; • the traveling campaign is a real expertise of Legambiente. • Why: • A travelling crew is an event itself (this is the perception of people and media, especially in town and village) • Low budget event (enough a good animation team, travelling exhibition by panels or by computers, gadgets, ecc) • a good mean to engage adult and children Cofinanced by European Regional Development Fund

  15. CLIMATE CARAVAN 9 STAGES (from september 2011) From Portugal to Greece throughout Spain, France and Italy. Each partner will support Legambiente and the Caravan team meanwhile the stage in its area. The Climate Caravan stage it will be planned in order to show the right practices for a good efficiency policy: a linking moment for citizens, school and institutions.
