Biofeedback. What is it ?. Simply put, biofeedback is a means for gaining control of our body processes to increase relaxation, relieve pain, and develop healthier, more comfortable life patterns.

  1. Biofeedback

  2. What is it ? Simply put, biofeedback is a means for gaining control of our body processes to increase relaxation, relieve pain, and develop healthier, more comfortable life patterns. biofeedback, uses specialized equipment to monitor various physiological processes as they occur.

  3. There is a 4 step process

  4. Research • Attanasio et al (1985) found that biofeedback helped teenagers and children with stress-related disorders to gain control over the symptoms of migraine headaches. AO2- • Only used on children and teenager , thus is not applicable to others. • The study was carried out in 1985 , may be too old • Other age groups might be relatively more stressed than others.

  5. Evaluation of Biofeedback • There are no side effects to biofeedback – just relaxation • However biofeedback is relatively harder to use • The equipment used is specialist , and will need expert supervision , so trained people will be needed to carry out the process
