Yes / No (If yes please detail on a separate sheet) OCN Training for Youth Work This is an accredited source of training for part-time and voluntary youth work staff working in Youth and Children's Ministry and is recognised by Education and Library Boards as the first step to professional qualification. The programme is designed for anyone aged 18 and over who want to develop their understanding of, and ability to work effectively with, young people. The ‘Introduction to Youth Work’ programme is awarded at NIOCN Level 2 and consists of 30 hours of actual tutor/participant contact time.  In addition, participants will be expected to spend a minimum of 20 hours working with young people/children in a youth work/youth ministry setting over the duration of the course.  Further time may be needed for individuals to complete associated tasks e.g. personal learning log, worksheets, etc.  This will amount to approximately 10 hours. The programme is a competence-based programme and is assessed through portfolio building (gathering evidence of your learning) and a witness testimony from the candidate's supervisor.
