  1. Energy HarvestingSingle Photovoltaic Cell Charger By Derek Salomon

  2. Energy Harvesting • Energy harvesting is the collection or storage of energy that is all around us in many different forms (solar thermal, chemical, electrical, mechanical and more) for small, wireless autonomous devices such as Cell Phones, Mp3, Mini Radios, etc…

  3. System Diagram • The Single Photovoltaic Cell Charger uses the high efficiency step up DC/DC Converter LTC3105 by Linear Technology.

  4. LTC3105 Features • - Vin range from 225mV – 5V • - Vout ranges from 1.5V – 5.25V depending on the Resistor Divider • - Automatic Power Adjust

  5. Universal Step-Up Converter

  6. LTC3105 Block Diagram

  7. Graph of The Step Up Converter

  8. Datasheet of LTC3105

  9. Circuit Diagram

  10. Calculation • A resistor divider connected between the VOUT and FB pins programs the step-up converter output voltage. The desired output voltage can be obtained using the formula below: • The FB Pin of LTC3105 provides a typical voltage of 1.004V as shown in the data sheet.

  11. 1st Part of the Board • 500Mills x 700Mills

  12. Total Cost

  13. Photovoltaic Cell Charger By different Retailers • Photovoltaic Cell Charger by Solar ReStore: $50 Solar Cell Charger by Opteka: $95
