  4. Spelling and Basic Math Facts • Personalized spelling lists will be given out on Mondays- Spelling test on Fridays. • Math facts must be learned, please help your child become proficient and confident in this area. Use Xtramath.org • Much of our work is transferred from book to paper. Please help your student to develop the habit of bringing their textbooks, library books, and homework back to school each and every day.

  5. Grading • Report cards are issued 3 times a year. Grades A, B, C, D, and F will be earned in math, reading, language arts, social studies, and science. (Effort grade only for art/ performing arts and physical education.) • Missing Assignments or Grade print outs will be sent home every Monday. They must be signed and returned the following day.

  6. If homework or class work is not completed your student will be kept in for recess. After school study hall will be given if missing work becomes excessive. Please check your student’s notebook and sign student planner daily Discuss your child’s work with them in a positive way and encourage them to do their best. Students will be expected to meet the monthly goal for AR points. (Included in LA grade.) Class Work and Homework

  7. Discipline • Classroom Rules • Always raise your hand, and then wait to be called on. • Only talk when you are given permission to talk.. • No loitering in the classroom. • Stay on task. • Keep your hands and feet to yourself. • BE POSITIVE!

  8. Behavior Consequences • Verbal warning • Recess Detention • After-school Detention • Office Referral • Parent phone call • Severe Clause

  9. Using inappropriate language at school = detention, if it continues the student will receive an office referral • Severe Clause- Students will be sent to the principal with an office referral, without going through the steps of consequences, for aggressive and harmful behavior.

  10. Rewards • Champion Trophies • Student of the Month • Extra PE, computer time, activity • Phone call home to share success

  11. Homework • Daily homework will be assigned Monday through Thursday nights. Daily homework is due on the following school day. • If there is a problem in completing a homework assignment a parent may send a note to ask for an additional day to turn it in. The note needs to state the reason why the homework is late, and not requested on a regular basis, only on a rare occasion.

  12. Projects • Must be turned in on due dates for full credit. • California History Project • Various assigned reports and projects throughout the year.

  13. Parent Volunteers • Yes, we still need you in 4th grade! • Field trips • Booster Club • Picture Day • Book Fairs • School Activities • Class Play- make-up, scenery, crowd control, etc.

  14. Attendance • Your student needs to be on time and present at school every day-instruction begins when school begins. • When your student is absent or tardy, please send a note stating the reason. • Establish a reasonable bedtime for your child so that they will be alert and attentive in school. • Students must make-up work that they miss during absences.

  15. Donations • Donations are always welcomed and very much appreciated. • We love items for our class treasure box (inexpensive toys, snacks, school supplies, etc.) • Tissues, Xerox paper, notebook paper, pencils, whiteboard markers, baby wipes, etc.. • Birthday book donation.
