  2. Target Audience Freshman Animal Science class who have had an animal science class in eighth grade

  3. Learning Environment Students will be in a traditional classroom setting. Students learn information about Mini Rex Rabbits in order to know their characteristics if they want to raise them or show them in 4-H.

  4. Objectives Given pictures of different varieties of Mini Rex Rabbits students will be able to match the variety name with the picture of that variety with 80% accuracy. Given characteristics of different varieties on Mini Rex rabbits students will be able to match the characteristic with the variety with 80% accuracy.

  5. History Derived from France Recognized breed in 1988 Crossed between Netherland Dwarf and Standard Rex Used for 4-H and show

  6. Characteristics Max weight for does 4.8 lbs Max weight for bucks 4.4 lbs Classified in Juniors(jrs) and Seniors (srs) Jr’s are under 6 months old and weigh 3.12 or less

  7. Characteristics Continued Srs are older then 6 months old Bucks minimum 3lbs 2 oz max 4lbs 4 oz Does min 3lbs.8oz max 4lbs.8oz

  8. Qualifications Ears less than 31/2 inches Tope teeth go over bottom teeth 4 nails on back feet& four nails on front feet plus declaw Privates free of infection

  9. Disqualifications Ears over 3 ½ inches in length Bottom teeth butting the top teeth or bottom teeth over the top teeth Missing a nail on a foot or broken toe Infected privates White nails/ white spots in fur

  10. Varieties (colors) Currently there are 19 colors or varieties of Mini Rex rabbits Each variety shows against themselves then the best varieties show against each other for champion Mini Rex

  11. Black Whole body is rich dark black Eyes dark brown Black nails

  12. Blue Whole body a lustrous rich dark blue dawn to the skin Nails dark

  13. Broken Any recognized color in conjunction with white Must have 10% color and no more than 50% color
