  6. What’s the difference?

  7. SOLID FIGURESThese are 3D, not flat like a plane figure.

  8. Just like polygons, these figures have special names!

  9. A FACE is the flat surface of the figure.

  10. An EDGE is where two faces meet.

  11. A vertex is a point, normally where edges meet.

Work It • Find the faces, vertices, and edges for the provided shapes. • You may use the actual shapes that Ms. Lonsdale has in the back of the room if you need help identifying these properties. • By the end of class, discuss with your group…. • What seems to be the relationship between the faces/vertices and the edges of any 3D shape? • If you complete this early, read pages 410-411 and write the definitions for each highlighted vocabulary word.
