  3. Introduction Other Experiences: • Design Engineer for Production of Mechanical Transmission parts by computer numerical control (CNC). • Designing and manufacturing of; tools, dies, axels, and fasteners. • EtC.

  4. Objectives Where we are on the Roadmap? Where should we go from here? How do we get there? Data collection issues Related NCHRP projects Other state efforts

  6. Objective 1Where we are on our Roadmap? Phase I of evaluations are completed for strategies; • STOP Signs with Increased Retroreflectivity • Flashing Beacons • STOP AHEAD Pavement Markings • Two-way Left Turn Lanes These studies are going through multi-stage technical reviews by the FHWA experts. Last stage of study reviews will be performed by DOT experts (October 2007) Details will be discussed by corresponding experts today.

  7. OBJECTIVE 1Continued Phase II of evaluations are in process for; • Offset Left-Turn Lanes • Advance Signing • Combination of Rumble Strips • Lane Widths/Shoulder Widths The studies are to be completed by the December of 2007. Details will be discussed by corresponding experts tomorrow.

  8. OBJECTIVE 1Continued Phase IV of evaluations will be performed by Driving Simulation (FHWA Laboratory). Treatments for this phase were selected based on two criteria; • DOT’s survey feedbacks, and • Feasibility of evaluations by the Driving Simulation. This phase will be discussed extensively today.

  9. Objective 2Where should we go from here? Phase III of evaluations are not identified. Possible treatments and methods of their evaluations are subjects of our discussion for tomorrow.

  10. OBJECTIVE 3How do we get there? Phase III of evaluations may be performed for three types of treatments; • Retrospective- Treatments that have been installed with before and after data available (i.e. Phase I & II) • Prospective- Treatments that will be built by DOTs and then evaluated • Simulations- Treatments that may be simulated in simulation laboratories.

  11. OBJECTIVE # 3Continued Technical Advisory Committee members will have opportunity to provide technical feedbacks and participate in selection of the Phase III treatments on the second day of our meeting.
