  5. Tonight’s Purpose • Explain the high school scheduling process, timelines and expectations • Educate you on high school terminology and programs • Answer questions/concerns • Provide opportunity to make online requests

Scheduling Timeline • Students received scheduling information and course selection forms from middle school counselors that included recommendations for the following: • Honors Courses • World Language Courses • Read 180/English Labs • Algebra Enrichment • Early College • Parent information meeting • Parents/students complete online form to request to drop/add courses • Online course requests open • Students complete course selection forms and return to middle school counselors by February 5 • Students complete online course requests completed by Monday, February 5

  9. Scheduling Timeline • Master schedule built based on student requests • Students schedule courses online in early May (more information will be provided in April) • Student schedules are checked and conflicts resolved

  11. When you log in, you will be in in the middle school entity. Select Center Grove High School from the drop down menu. This will read as “Courses for 2013-2014” on your Skyward homepage when you are in the high school entity.

Schedule Change Policy • Students will not be able to drop any course unless the request meets the following criteria: • need to meet high school graduation requirements • need to meet college entrance requirements • need to balance over-crowded classes • an error in computer entry • late staff changes • Requested changes related to teacher assignments, lunch assignments, and class periods. etc. will not be considered. • Students who in enroll in year long courses are committing to the course for both semesters.

  18. Honors Courses • Preparation for Advanced Placement (AP) and college-level work • More critical thinking • More intensive reading and writing assignments • Self-discipline and motivation is necessary • Good organizational skills are important

  23. Remember… Course selection forms and online requests are due to your middle school guidance office Monday, February 25!
