  4. Technology Vision Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation is committed to the effective use of technology, which offers vast, diverse, and unique resources to our students and staff. This includes incorporating activities and programs aimed at promoting educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, research, innovation, and communication.

  5. Shared Responsibility • Students, parents, and school personnel share the responsibility for effectively implementing and reinforcing the Internet as an educational tool. • Self discipline, responsibility, and cooperation are encouraged for the efficient operation of the technology environment. • The Acceptable Use Policies Overview has been established so students, staff, and parents are aware of the responsibility governing the use of technology systems in the Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation.

  6. Guidelines • Access to computer hardware and software is provided to students and staff for the purpose of enhancing curriculum, instruction, and assessment, as well as promoting the efficiency of school operations. • The use of the technology services is a privilege, not a right, and inappropriate use may result in cancellation of those privileges. • Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation reserves the right to inspect and monitor any and all aspects of the technology system at its sole discretion, including files, e-mail, and other electronic transmissions, produced or stored within the system.

Example: No stickers on the laptop. • The intent is for this laptop to be used as an educational tool only. Teachers will develop individual methods for use in their classrooms. Classroom specific rules and consequences will be communicated by individual teachers. • * In the LHS Handbook, rules and guidelines are explained in greater detail.

  11. Frequently Asked Questions Who is liable for damages and theft? In consideration for the Lawrenceburg Community School Corporation providing access to the technology system, the user and parents or guardians will agree to accept all liability, loss or damages as a result of claims, demands, attorney’s fees, costs, or judgments arising out of the user’s violation of these terms and conditions. If a device is damaged (excluding factory defects) parents will be required to assist in the cost of the repairs. • For the first occurrence or damage(s), parents will be required to pay for repairs up to $50.00. • Any occurrence of damage(s) thereafter will require parents to pay for the full cost of repairs or the replacement of the damaged or lost device.

  12. Frequently Asked Questions Are the laptops covered by a warranty? There is a one-year factory warranty which covers product defect which includes software, but not downloaded applications. *The school is not providing insurance plans for devices; however, parents may seek out their own device insurance. Will the laptops be insured? No. The school has opted to self-insure the laptops. As noted, on the first occurrence of damage the school will only require parents to pay a maximum of $50.00. The school corporation will cover the remaining costs.

  13. Frequently Asked Questions How will students tell one childs laptop from another? Laptops are named and labeled for each student. The labels are posted on the cases in a visible location. Will students need internet access at home? No. However, home internet access will enhance the educational experience for your child. If they take them home are the chargers also provided? Yes. It is the responsibility of the student to make sure the device is fully charged everyday. There may be an option for charging here at school at a later time. As of right now, charging space is limited.
