  1. Discussion on Profile Database Release PR0X • C M Roach • Euratom/UKAEA Fusion Association, Culham Science Centre, Abingdon, Oxon, OX14 3DB, UK • Status of PR0X NF Paper • Other Issues • This work was jointly funded by the EPSRC and EURATOM

  2. Status of NF Paper PR0X • Fairly complete draft of NF paper is now available online at:http://tokamak-profiledb.ukaea.org.uk/RESTRICTED/PR0x/pr0x_nf.pdf (username+password available on request to co-authors.) • CMR has requested comments • latex files at:http://tokamak-profiledb.ukaea.org.uk/RESTRICTED/PR0x/ • just add \Blue{your comment} to Latex files. • Specific feedback also requested from this session!

  3. Issues for THIS MEETING to resolve (1) Final Author list: should all modellers be included? • volunteers needed to check author list + give corrections to CMR (2) Sec 2: Table 1 is not presently helpful for the reader, so will improve by instead categorising providing number of discharges in each category ITB, DT, hybrid, high performance H-mode etc. • request specific comments to improve Table1 (3) Sec 2: imbalanced detail in machine contributions: eg JET provided much more detail than AUG/TS. • request specific comments to improve balance

  4. Issues for THIS MEETING to resolve • (4) Sec 4: Can physics review be strengthened, without rewriting old papers or new physics analyses? • request specific comments on Sec 4 (5) A Few Missing NF Contributions: TFTR: descriptions of 2 PR0x discharges D3D: descriptions of 20 PR0x discharges • Action: When can these be ready? or go ahead without? ... “shame to spoil the ship for a ha’penny worth of tar!” (6) Some discharges remain incompatible with PR0x variables: D3D ~19 discharges; TFTR 1 PR0x, 79 PR98 discharges • Action: When can these be ready? or go ahead without?

  5. 6. PR0X Appendix A on ITER Scenarios (7) Appendix A ITER Scenarios: no descriptions from R Budny’s scenarios. 7. Issues for THIS MEETING to resolve (8) Acknowledgements: • Action: comments/suggestions on acknowledgements? (9) Intend to illustrate web-based plots (from NTCC data server) by adding figures to Section 3 : eg Pfus(t) from record JET, TFTR shots, and ITB T,n profiles from other machines • Action: suggestions for specific plots? • (10) When submit to NF? • suggestions for submission timescale (given above constraints)?

  8. Other Issues for PR0x UKAEA will: (1) upgrade operating system on tokamak-profiledb for improved maintainability/security: presently Fedora 2. (2) Fix NTCC data server, with help from J Carlsson. (3) Make PR0x public by end of 2007?

  9. Conclusions Status of PR0X Data: • 102/122 PR0X discharges are ready for publication now • a fewkey discharges (d3d, tftr) still to comply with agreed variables • iter modelling scenarios missing • wait, or go ahead without? NF Paper Status: • almost completed draft available at http://tokamak-profiledb.ukaea.org.uk/RESTRICTED/ • comments requested for speedy submission to journal Have we finalised commitments for missing elements in this session?
