  3. What does it do? • Synthesis of fatty acids and lipids • Lipids=Lipids can be defined as naturally-occurring compounds that store energy, give structure to cell membranes, and transmit signals. • Fatty acids= Fatty acids are the building blocks of the fat in our bodies and in the food we eat

  4. Function • Detoxify / process chemicals • Aids in the transportation of proteins • Makes chemical water soluble • Proteins=any of a large group of nitrogenous organic compounds that are essential for living cells

  5. Effects on non-functioning • weakness, dizziness, headache, nausea vomiting and blurred vision • In serious cases permanent blindness or death  Methanol

  6. How is it made up? • Network of membranes • Enclosed, flattened tubes found in eukaryotic animal and plant cells • Found in liver cells
