  2. Essential Question • What do you know about the food pyramid?

  3. Objective #1 • The student will be able to create the food pyramid with the appropriate number of sections.

  4. Objective #2 • The student will be able to identify and label each section on the food pyramid with the corresponding group name.

  5. Objective #3 • The student will be able to formulate a daily menu that provides the recommended servings of each group for a day.

  6. Objective #4 • The student will be able to construct and solve basic addition math problems that equal to the correct number of servings for each group. 7 servings of fruits and vegetables

  7. Objective #5 • The student will be able to compare and contrast the characteristics of fruits and vegetables.

  8. Objective #6 • The students will keep track of their daily food intake.

  9. Unit Summary • The students will learn about the five food groups that make up the food pyramid along with the correct number of daily servings. With this information the students will construct healthy meals with the correct number of food group servings. The students will be able to record their daily intake of food and analyze whether or not they are eating healthy by charting their information.

  10. Student Assessment • I will use a K-W-L chart throughout this unit to assess what they know, what they want to learn, and what they have learned. I will be able to assess each student individually by the work they complete and turn in for each activity. The activities ask for specific information that the child will have to know and understand.

  11. What I have learned… • You have to be able to reach each one of your students. This requires you to formulate activities that approach all learning styles. • Planning is the key to writing a unit plan. • The internet is full of resources, use them!
