Team Members Peter Vandermeulen (Leader) - peterv@7solartech.comDaniel Mazor - damazor1@gmail.com Eric Graham - egraham@fraunhofer.orgThomas Ringler - thomasr@7solartech.com 7Solar is developing a novel Air Conditioning technology that dehumidifies the air using a liquid desiccant (licensed from National Renewable Energy Laboratory). The desiccant requires regeneration which can be provided by low grade waste heat, for example with heat from industrial processes or from the rear of solar modules. The liquid desiccant alone can reduce heating and cooling costs by over 50% when powered by natural gas. We can utilize much lower temperatures for regeneration and we can retrofit directly onto existing HVAC curbs. We do so at a cost that is comparable to an existing HVAC unit. Our rapid payback period (under 2 years) allows ESCO’s to use our system in energy retrofits. We save potentially more than half of the energy that is used for the heating and cooling of buildings which compares to removing the equivalent of 350,000 cars from the road in our first 10 years of operations. Alumni Success: 7AC Technologies 2010 Northeast Finalist 7AC Technologies aims to drastically reduce the huge amount of energy used to heat and cool buildings by employing a unique Liquid Desiccant Chiller implementation for air conditioning that can optionally harness the electrical and thermal energy from sunlight to deliver the worlds first true Net-Zero climate control solution.

Alumni Success: V Squared Wind 2010 Northeast Finalist Our power technology uses a novel patented Wind Acceleration Module to passively accelerate the wind, significantly increasing its available power and creating the opportunity to dramatically lower the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) of wind power. V2's technology has a streamlined low drag shape that enables this acceleration and power increase. The system is also modular (background image) with individual modules grouped into arrays of any desired size from 100KW to 7MW with minimal impact on the cost of energy produced across the range.
