AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA / SS BOFOS / SS BOFOS has been affiliated to the Confederation of Autonomous Trade Unions of Serbia from its establishment until today. SS BOFOS was established at its constitutional Assembly held on June 21, 2002. Confederation of autonomous trade unions of Serbia /SSSS/ was founded in 1903. It is the oldest and the biggest confederation in Serbia. It has almost 650.000 members in more than 7.000 trade union organizations that are organized in 31 branch federation. To be a member of SS BOFOS within the SSSS means to have more protection and bigger rights.

AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA / SS BOFOS / • SS BOFOS is organized on: • a branch principle ( banks, insurance companies and other financial organizations ) and • on territorial principle (municipal, regional, inter-regional committees) • SS BOFOS organizes employees and is active on the whole territory of Serbia with the majority of membership in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The most important organization of SS BOFOS is in the Vojvodjanska Bank, Novi Sad with membership of 2527. Vojvodjanska Bank is the biggest bank in Serbia with the state as the majority shares holder. The first collective labour agreement has been signed in Vojvodjanska Bank . Vladislav Jevtović is the President of the Trade Union of the Vojvodjanska Bank. The most important organization in the insurance sector is DDOR, Novi Sad, as one of the largest insurance companies in Serbia with 1600 employees and with membership of 1528.

AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA /SS BOFOS/ What we have been engaged in, what we have and have not achieved in the previous period and now The most important activity was related to the collective labour agreement conclusion. The company collective labour agreements were concluded in the all of member organizations . SS BOFOS has started negotiations with the Bank Association of Serbia on branch collective labour agreement conclusion but it has not been signed so far. We carry out activities : -in trade union leaders ,activists and members education and training, -to improve infrastructure and internal communication and information, -to recruit new members

AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA /SS BOFOS/ What we have been engaged in, what we have and have not achieved in the previous period and now We carry out activities : -in trade union leaders , activists and members education and training, -to improve infrastructure and internal communication and information, -to recruit new members . - to get trade union participated in the current privatisation process on an equal basis to provide for an insight in purchasing contracts, respect of collective labour agreements and social plans.

AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA /SS BOFOS/ What we have been engaged in, what we have and have not achieved in the previous period and now As we are worried about the social consequences of privatisation process we are trying to foresee them and get them mitigated. It was only last, and this year that in the banking sector restructuring (following the IMF and WB requests) more than 1000 employees lost their jobs. The government has already announced even more massive dismissals.

AUTONOMOUS UNION OF EMPLOYEES IN BANKS, INSURANCE COMPANIES AND OTHER FINANCIAL ORGANIZATIONS OF SERBIA /SS BOFOS/ Activities on the cooperation development both in the country and with our foreign colleagues • SS BOFOS cooperates with: • the branch unions affiliated to the SSSS, • the Autonomous Trade Union of Financial Organizations of Montenegro, • The Financial Organizations Trade Union of Romania-TUFIB and • has established contacts with the unions in the Netherlands ,Denmark and some other countries. • We also cooperate with: • the Adizes Institute that should carry out the project“The improvement of the organization structure and managerial skills of trade union leaders”, • the other organizations and institutions when a need arises.

OUR AIMS: • Building of trade union identity and taking the most favourable position in the society • Better internal organization, communication and information • Education and skills acquirement of the leadership • Training of employees in order to acquire professional skills for a new jobs performance with new technologies • Strengthening employers associations • Conclusion of the branch collective labour agreement • Offering new and better services to membership • Increasing the membership number by organizing employees in the private banks • Developing of international cooperation and the activities in the international organizations

  11. Mara Erdelj Graduated at the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade. Certificated:-Authorized accountant, -Auditor Permanent court interpreter for Slovenian language. Proficiency in English:Business English Certificate. Computer skills:MS Office. Have been employed with Vojvodjanska Bank a.d. Novi Sad, branch office in Sombor since 1991. at a position of an associate for domestic and foreign currency credit transactions.
