  1. Marton Village Cricket Club 2009

  2. Marton Village Cricket Club In 1984 a local cricket enthusiast and a group of friends in the village put in motion the revival of the lapsed cricket club. A meeting was held in one of the outhouse rooms of the Hare and Hounds, now gone, and sufficient support was present to encourage the clubs re-formation. MVCC today continues to thrive and plays cricket at the local playing fields in Marton, Warwichshire, the club is run as an amateur cricket club playing friendly matches on a Sunday afternoon. In partnership with Marton Playing Fields Association the club hires the pavilion and ground for each home fixture. All the ground work and wicket preparation is carried out by enthusiastic local members and one of our Sponsors carries out pre-season scarifying and feed application to the wicket. During the season the club organises charity matches and donates the receipts to worthy charitable causes. Development & Business Plan 2009/2010 MVCC faces annual costs to hire the local playing fields and pavilion, purchase maintenance materials, playing kit, player insurance and on-going investment to improve the playing facilities. The elected committee holds monthly meetings to discuss all matters associated with running the club and prepares a bi annual development & business plan. (see enclosed) Critical success factors are identified then priority actions are set to ensure the club thrives in the future. Each season the committee actively identifies a number of fund raising events in order to raise funds to meet the club’s annual running costs. Thanks to the clubs sponsors, past Chairman, committees and players the cricket wicket is greatly improved we now possess one sight screen, line marker, roller and wicket mower. Our future aim is to purchase another sight screen, new cricket shirts, brush cutter and possibly our own outfield mower. This season the committee is discussing the introduction of a health & safety policy, risk assessment arrangement and safe guarding policy (under sixteen's).
