  3. Areas of Focus • Areas of focus are priority action areas. • Ask yourselves • What are the priority, thematic areas of activity where we can make a difference? • What do our vision, our perceptions from the SWOT exercise, and the community indicators have in common? • Areas of Focus should meet these criteria: • They are highly leveraged. • Change within the AOF would likely not happen or would be more difficult without this process. • Actions within the AOF will require cross-sectoral collaboration to succeed. • Strategies within the AOF could be oriented to systems change.

  7. Selection of Areas of Focus (AOF) for Task Groups • Table Team Work • Brief discussion of possible Areas of Focus (i.e. transportation & mobility, or river access and activities). • Individually decide on the best AOF for further work (begins to accomplish the vision, builds on strengths, captures opportunities, avoids weaknesses and threats). • Write your AOF on a single post-it note and place it on the sheet in the center of the table. • When everyone’s AOF is in place, each member will have three dots to place on the those they think should have priority. • Tables will report and deliver to the front of the room the post-it notes with the top 4 priority AOF from their table. • AOFs will be sorted and repeats noted. • Results will be reported and consensus will be checked. • Task Groups will be formed by stakeholders voting with their feet.
