  1. The Solar System Exploring the planets in our solar system

  2. MERCURY Mercury has no moons or rings. Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. It is 36 million miles from the sun. Mercury orbits the sun much faster than Earth. The days on Mercury are really hot and the nights are really cold. There is no water on Mercury. Click on Mercury to learn more!

  3. VENUS Venus is 67 million miles from the sun. Nothing that we know of would be able to survive on Venus. Venus has no moons or rings. Venus is a little smaller than Earth. Venus is closer to Earth than any other planet. Click on Venus to find out more!

  4. EARTH Earth is 93 million miles from the sun. The Earth has one moon and no rings. The Earth spins around or rotates once every 24 hours. Earth has three times more water than it does land. To learn more, click Earth!

  5. MARS Mars is 142 million miles from the sun. Mars has two moons and no rings. Night and day take up about the same time as on Earth. The sky is a creamy pink color because of all the red dust in the air. Click to learn more!

  6. JUPITER Jupiter is 484 million miles away from the sun. Jupiter has at least sixteen moons and one ring. Jupiter is the largest planet of all. One of Jupiter’s years is as long as 12 years on Earth. The Great Red Spot is three times as large as Earth and may be a huge hurricane. To learn more click Jupiter!

  7. SATURN Saturn is 887 million miles from the sun. Saturn has more than eighteen moons and seven rings. Saturn is ten times bigger than the Earth. It takes thirty Earth years for Saturn to orbit the sun. Click Saturn to learn more!

  8. URANUS Uranus is 1,783 million miles from the sun. Uranus has fifteen moons and nine rings. Uranus is four times bigger than the Earth. It takes Uranus 84 Earth years to orbit the sun. To learn more about Uranus click it!

  9. NEPTUNE Neptune is 2,794 million miles from the sun. Neptune has eight moons and four rings. It takes Neptune 165 Earth years to orbit the sun once. Neptune has very stong winds inside the atmosphere. Neptune is interesting. To see why, click it!

  10. PLUTO Pluto is 3,666 million miles from the sun. Pluto has one moon and no rings. It takes Pluto 248 Earth years to orbit the sun once. Pluto might have been a satelite of Neptune at one point in time. To find out more about Pluto click on it!
